Most People Don’t Use Social Networking for Politics

Most People Don’t Use Social Networking for Politics | Communications Major | Scoop.it

To read some people on the Internet, you’d think the election would be decided by who had the most followers and Tweeted the most about his or her favored candidate. The truth of the matter is that, even if you are the world’s most prolific political Twit with gobs of followers… those people (other than the spam bots) self-selected to follow you, meaning you’re either preaching to the converted or the trolls.

In real life, most people don’t use Twitter — and, when they do, it’s not to get involved in politics. Some statistics on that, courtesy of the Pew Internet and American Life Project....

Dems v. the GOP: Working Women vs. @AnnDRomney

Dems v. the GOP: Working Women vs. @AnnDRomney | Communications Major | Scoop.it

Yesterday, GOP Presidential contender Mitt Romney said he looked to his wife Ann for advice on women and the economy. But @AnnDRomney (who online denizens know by her newly debuted Twitter account) is no Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama or even Laura Bush. Mrs. Romney, in the words of one female Democratic adviser, has "never worked a day in her life." Yes, she's raised five sons, which no one doubts is a hard job. But unlike most American women, @AnnDRomney has never had to make the difficult choice between work and family, let alone be dealt a "no choice" card like many women who need to earn a paycheck to support their family.
