The Democrats have won the last two Presidential elections thanks to their savvy use of social media. Is the GOP ready to text them "Message received"?

Twitter released its new Vine app in January as a way to send short, 6-second, looping videos in the same way users send photos or 140-character message to their followers. 

It seems opponents of South Carolina Dem-candidate for a House seat have used Vine, the way Obama's team used Instagram. Very savvy indeed.

They're basically America's awesome kid sisters, and the inauguration was their day to shine. Photo bombing, yawning, texting and boredom during their Dad's big day. Sasha and Malia rock!

In politics, image is king, and every politician knows it. So, it's surprising to see the president caught in a three-way selfie at Nelson Mandela's memorial service in South Africa, even if the other two people in the picture are the British and Danish Prime Ministers. The now iconic picture, snapped by an AFP photographer, speaks more than its thousand-word allotment — largely because Michelle Obama appears to be the only one showing any decorum.

In a week that should have belonged to President Barack Obama, taking the oath of office for his second term and making a courageous speech dedicated to equality for all, it was the ladies around him who captured the social media spotlight.

Seen to many as a game changer throughout the election, social media made election day historic in more ways than one. Twitter, in particular had a profound impact, becoming "a kind of nationwide caucus." Of note: The Obama campaign used Twitter at an 8-1 ratio in comparison to Mitt Romney.
