Arianna Huffington, president and editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post media group, says she doesn't expect anyone to answer her emails at night or over the weekend.

Arianna says she always puts the day behind her before going to bed. She puts her phone on charge in another room. That way, even if she wakes up in the night, there's no temptation to sneak a peek at it.

Says Arianna, "We're never going to eliminate stress, but we can reduce it." She also says we need to prioritize "de-stressing" in our lives and has an app that can help. It's called "GPS for the Soul."

INFOGRAPHIC: Our Love/Hate Relationship with Email | Communications Major | Scoop.it

Like many of the digital tools that keep us connected (Facebook, anyone?) our relationship with email is pretty complicated. On the one hand, we’re able to stay in contact with loved ones, collaborate with others and get work done quickly. But, on the other, its very utility can easily become overwhelming and addicting.

Why You're Probably Working an Extra Two Months This Year

Why You're Probably Working an Extra Two Months This Year | Communications Major | Scoop.it

Looking forward to that July 4 holiday? Of course you are. But be honest: what are the chances you’re going to sneak a look at your work email at some point during the day, just in case? A new survey from mobile security firm Good Technology reveals some 68% of us check work email before 8 a.m., with half of us doing so before our heads leave the pillow. At the other end of the day, 69% of us can’t slip into slumber unless we’ve checked that old work email one last time. All that extra time online adds up to an extra 7 hours a week, or 365 hours a year.

Snapchat My Email

Snapchat My Email | Communications Major | Scoop.it

Can a Snapchat-like app be built to deal with email overload?

If you're over 25 (or under 13), you are forgiven. Those carefree, youthful years between 13 and 25 are the sweet spot demographic for our connected culture's latest cause célèbre. Snapchat is an app that lets you send a photo to one - or hundreds - that has a shelf-life of about 10 seconds. You set the limits, but once your friend(s) see the image it will vanish from the online ether before you can even think to share it.

To get adults' attention, the typical stories making the rounds are that Snapchat can really up your sexting game. If Anthony Weiner had Snapchat instead of Twitter, he'd be President by now (or at least still have his seat in Congress).

Middle-Aged Adults Behaving Badly and Online Communications Are a Recipe for Disaster

Middle-Aged Adults Behaving Badly and Online Communications Are a Recipe for Disaster | Communications Major | Scoop.it

The latest sex scandal to "shock" our nation once again involves middle-aged adults leaving a trail of inappropriate online communications. This time around the culprit is email. A tool that has been employed in most offices for nearly two decades, unlike newer forms of social media. kept the bar extremely low to crawl out from under.

Late last week it was revealed that highly decorated, former U.S. Army general David Petraeus, who had left that post to become the director of the CIA - a man married for nearly 40 years - had been having an affair with his biographer, Paula Broadwell. (The somewhat less-than clandestine couple is pictured here.)
