So, email is still good for something, heh?

Despite the hype around social media marketing, a relatively antique tech appears to be far more important for selling stuff online. Yep, you guessed it: email.

The new "No." Often, not responding to an e-mail or telephone call might say “no” unintentionally, though sometimes that is exactly what we meant to say.

"And technology makes it worse. It seems texting or emailing that you are late somehow means you are no longer late."

"Just about two years ago, I went off the deep end. I had come home early from an event in an effort to do something responsible: email. I was on the road and knew the situation would be dire (since I had not been checking my email all day).  I was wrong. It was a disaster."

Here’s hoping that politeness never goes out of fashion, but that time-wasting forms of communication do.

Can a Snapchat-like app be built to deal with email overload?

If you're over 25 (or under 13), you are forgiven. Those carefree, youthful years between 13 and 25 are the sweet spot demographic for our connected culture's latest cause célèbre. Snapchat is an app that lets you send a photo to one - or hundreds - that has a shelf-life of about 10 seconds. You set the limits, but once your friend(s) see the image it will vanish from the online ether before you can even think to share it.

To get adults' attention, the typical stories making the rounds are that Snapchat can really up your sexting game. If Anthony Weiner had Snapchat instead of Twitter, he'd be President by now (or at least still have his seat in Congress).

The latest sex scandal to "shock" our nation once again involves middle-aged adults leaving a trail of inappropriate online communications. This time around the culprit is email. A tool that has been employed in most offices for nearly two decades, unlike newer forms of social media. kept the bar extremely low to crawl out from under.

Late last week it was revealed that highly decorated, former U.S. Army general David Petraeus, who had left that post to become the director of the CIA - a man married for nearly 40 years - had been having an affair with his biographer, Paula Broadwell.
