There's a lot of debate these days about whether young and young-ish people, particularly those using social media, are too sensitive to perceived insults toward women and minorities. Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich are aligned with one of the most prominent groups fighting against same-sex marriage - the National Organization for Marriage (NOM). Last week an internal memo revelaed the group's plans to pit blacks against gays, manipulate Hispanic voters by making the exclusion of gay people from marriage “a key badge of Latino identity," and paint President Obama as a "social radical."

You probably already knew this. But we thought maybe this election year would be different. Especially since Mitt Romney recently hired an openly gay foreign-policy spokesman. One week later, the gay spokesman has resigned "in the wake of a full-court press by anti-gay conserveratives."
